Customised Pre-University Education

The Foundation Programme is designed for students who want to spend some of their gap year gaining new skills in business and developing personally. It is also ideal for those who want to improve their English language skills while learning about business or for the budding entrepreneurs who want to start companies. It gives school leavers time to mature, gain valuable skills and build a great network before they take their final decisions about college or the next step in their career. The focus throughout this programme is on the individual student, developing their character and ensuring they gain real skills for life.

Academic Programme

  • Business and the Business Environment
  • Marketing Processes and Planning
  • Human Resource Management
  • Leadership and Management
  • Accounting Principles
  • Managing a Successful Business Project
  • Entrepreneurial Ventures
  • Business Law

Five subjects are undertaken from the above (four in the summer term) and students learn the fundamentals of business through interactive exchange with experienced lecturers who have extensive professional experience and are experts in their chosen academic field. In small classes, of a maximum of 15–20, students work on case studies, meet real companies and learn how to apply academic theories to the practical world of business.

Character & Skill Development

As part of the Programme, students work on the following five core skills:

  • Empathetic Exchange
  • Strategic Thinking
  • Time Management / Results Orientation
  • Grit, Passion, Investment
  • Communication

This skill development takes place in addition to the formal courses, through a number of experiential learning points that occur throughout the term. These experiences, which include leading a real team, exchanging with a business/expert network and community management, allow students to apply skills in a real-world business setting.

Individual character issues (such as procrastination, perfectionism, lack of self-confidence or focus) that may hamper skill development, are worked on in weekly individual, customised mentoring and coaching sessions.

Entry Requirements

  • Assessment interview or participation in a Golden Ticket Weekend or equivalent interactive workshop (please contact admissions@globe-college.com for more information)
  • Evidence of English language ability (where ability is demonstrated on Golden Ticket Weekend, formal evidence is not required)

Accreditation & Progression

Students who successfully complete the programme are given official transcripts for the five courses they study. These courses are part of the Pearson Higher National Certificate programme, which is on the national qualifications framework in England.

On successful completion of this programme (and where agreed), students can do one more term to gain a Higher National Certificate qualification. Alternatively (and where students have the required school qualification) they can use the Foundation Programme to gain entry to the BA (Hons) in Business degree at Globe College or progress to other third-level institutions (outside of Germany) who accept same. In this instance, students join the first term of the degree at Globe College but may be given advanced entry at other institutions.

The Higher National Certificate (HNC) is a BTEC qualification that is accredited by Pearson. Pearson is the UK’s largest awarding body and is regulated by Ofqual (England), SQA Accreditation (Scotland), CCEA Accreditation (Northern Ireland) and Qualifications Wales (Wales). Pearson offer academic and vocational qualifications that are globally recognised and benchmarked, with educational excellence rooted in names such as Edexcel, BTEC, EDI and LCCI. Their vocational qualifications include Edexcel NVQ and BTEC from entry level to Higher National Diplomas. The HNC is not recognised in Germany but can be used for degree programmes in England and further afield. Please contact us for a list of universities that recognise this programme.

Student Testimonials

Kalina

I got to know Mrs Gunning through her frequent visits to Globe Business College Munich as a guest lecturer. I was very impressed by her and what she does. Dr Walsh is always teaching her students about the importance of networking and encouraging them to take any opportunity that presents itself, and that is exactly what I did. During one of her guest lectures at Globe, Mrs Gunning and I got to talking about our common interests. That day she gave me her card and I did as Dr Walsh taught me to – I kept in touch. Thanks to the education and opportunities GBCM provided me with, as well as the business values they instilled in me, today I am the Chief Content Creator for Ellen Gunning’s PR Training Academy, an online PR education platform for professionals.

I really enjoyed my time at Globe Business College, making new friends from different countries. I instantly felt accepted and welcomed here at Globe. It is a warm family. The Foundation Programme was really interesting and it will certainly help my further development. I had a good experience with my group, the OG Neckbeardz, during Grit Week. Thank you for everything.
