Guest Lecture: Daniel Lichtenstein, “The Shopping Channel”

February 12th, 2013

Mr. Daniel Lichtenstein was our Guest Lecturer on Friday 8th February, 2013.

After a brief introduction detailing his experience, he explained the logic behind “The Shopping Channel” and how this business model works.

As Mr. Lichtenstein clearly illustrated, the key to understanding the system is the interactive communication and the high focus on consumers and customer service. Without this interactive communication between companies and consumers, the TV and online shopping channels would not be such a profitable business. Consumers now get the opportunity to ask questions, get feedback and bid for a better price.

“Creativity is the key of life” stated Mr. Lichtenstein. “The best ideas started with questions, unusual questions, critical questions”.

After his presentation, our guest encouraged GBCM Students to consider the questions that a regular consumer might ask and which could be of interest to the shopping channel to answer accordingly. Courtesy of Mr. Lichtenstein, the group of students who wrote the best 10 questions will win a free pass to the Shopping Channel Studios in London, during our Industrial Visit in April.
