The Navigator Summer Business School, July 2016

July 11th, 2016

On Sunday 3rd July we welcomed a group of high school students from across Europe to our annual Navigator Summer Business School. On Sunday the students enjoyed a welcome event with a barbeque and live music. They also took part in some ice-breaker activities, were split into five teams, and found out a little more about the week to come. On Monday each team was given their project for the week, working with a real company based in Munich. This week we were very happy to be working with online fashion boutique Sassy Classy, live music event organisers Munich Sessions, tax consultancy expattax, and software companies absence.io and Data Insights.

The students spent the rest of the week working on their projects and taking part in interactive workshop sessions on subjects such as finance and marketing. We were also joined by number of guests throughout the week, who all shared their own unique insight and experience with the students. Our guests were Samantha Kelly (entrepreneur), Brendan McDonagh, (former Executive Chairman of the Bank of N.T. Butterfield & Son Limited), Thomas Stein (music manager and former juror from ProSieben’s ‘Popstars’), Tom Costley (Deputy Managing Director, Specialist Services, TNS UK), and David Pearse (stage and film actor).

The Summer School ended on Friday 8th July, with each team giving their final presentations. Each presentation was fantastic and it was great to see the teams put into practice what they had learned through the week. Team Gergish Lions, who worked with Sassy Classy, were declared the winners and presented with their prizes. The afternoon ended with each participant receiving a well-deserved certificate.
The Summer School was a great success and we were sad to say goodbye, but look forward to welcoming the students back to Globe College again in the future.
