Dr Susan Walsh will talk with Mary McKenna and Dr Marc Ventresca on the topic of Innovation on Wednesday, 10th June from 5.30pm to 6.30pm (CEST).
Mary is a technology entrepreneur and these days angel investor. She co-founded wildly successful online learning company Learning Pool in 2006 on the back of a long local government career and a spell as a Silicon Valley dot-commer. Mary is interested in helping start & grow indigenous Irish & British tech companies and especially in working with young and female entrepreneurs. She is also a trustee of the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE). Mary sits on the London board of the Irish International Business Network and is proud to be a member of the Global Irish Network.
Dr Marc Ventresca is an economic sociologist and Senior Research Fellow. His research and teaching focus on innovation, institutions, and infrastructure, with empirical work on emerging technologies and nascent markets. He is an advisor to start-up ventures founded by recent Oxford alumni (digital transformation in banking, design consultancies) and on the Advisory Boards for Global Thinkers Forum and The Civic Foundry. He is Academic Director of the Oxford Fintech Lab. He works with the Global Agenda Councils of the World Economic Forum on long-term strategy. He was a founding member of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council ‘Economics of Innovation’.
