Globe College Dean interviewed by Irish Times Newspaper

February 17th, 2011

Dr Susan Walsh, Dean of GBCM, was interviewed recently by Derek Scally of the Irish Times, as part of the newspaper’s “Wild Geese” series (which features emigrant Irish business leaders on opportunities abroad).

According to Walsh, in terms of a location for emigration, the Irish tend to ignore Germany in favour of traditional locations such as America and Australia… but in reality the Irish and Germans are a fantastic combination because “we are so diametrically opposed in terms of our characteristics…but opposites attract.”

When asked about Globe College, she concludes that “the German system tends to be process-oriented and largely based on the assimilation of facts” while “the Irish system is more focused on developing problem-solving abilities, communication skills and people competencies. When you bring those two systems together, the result is incredible.”
